Associate Professor at Almamer University and Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the same university in the years 2006-2016. Since 2018 Associate Professor at the Medical University of Mazovia, and from 2001 lecturer in descriptive (socio-economic) statistics and demography. Previously employed at the University of Social and Economics and the College of Hotel Management and Tourism. From 2012, lecturer at Vistula University. He promoted 510 Bachelor’s and 150 Master’s theses.
For 15 years (three terms), Chairman of the Statistics Council at the Prime Minister, and currently its Member, Member of the Program and Scientific Council of the UN Global Compact, Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Statistics of the Catholic Church. In the years 1989-2019, Chief Editor and Chairman of the Editorial Team of the series “Historia Polski w Liczbach” [Poland’s history in numbers]- six volumes at the Central Statistical Office.
From 1962 to 1965, Senior Assistant at the Department of Foreign Trade and Prices Research; from 1966 to 1971, Economic Director at PHZ Centromor and Metalexport; from 1983 to 1989, First Deputy Chairman of the Planning Committee at the Council of Ministers and Member of the Banks Council, from 1989 to 1991, President of the Central Statistical Office, since 1992 – President or Vice-president of management boards and supervisory boards of companies in industry, insurance and banking.
Areas of didactic/scientific interests:
- socio-economic statistics;
- demography, population policy;
- EU convergence processes, analysis of the implementation of operational programs and cohesion policy;
- world economy, international socio-economic indexes;
- processes of economic transformation and socio-economic policy;
- economic analysis of enterprises;
- insurance and pension funds.
