Anna Yatskiv
In the past, I was an English teacher and translator. My technical communicator’s path started the day when one of my students approached me and asked to help with a User Guide review. Since then, I have been in tech writing for almost 12 years in three different domains: Healthcare, IoT, and Finance. My main work direction is the OpenAPI documentation.
On daily basis I work on various tasks related to API user guide design and maintenance, as well as creation and support of technical documentation (including the API Reference documentation) for technical specialists. I create the API documentation (JSON, XML) verifying the API call via Postman. I closely cooperate with software and firmware developers to effectively describe all processes, adhere to release deadline to create release notes, and update the online help site. The more the processes are streamlined, the more effective and productive the work will be. That was one of the ideas of a talk I have given in June 2022 at SOAP conference for technical writers under the title ‘How to make sense of API documentation mess’. I consult other API technical writers helping them make their work more efficient and productive.
I have studied at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine) and have got the master’s degree in Translation Studies, English-Ukrainian Translator/Interpreter, Teacher of Translation/Interpreting, and the English language (Sept 2007 – May 2012). I have taken various courses about OpenAPI. I love sharing my experience and knowledge.
