The 23rd Inauguration Ceremony of the Academic Year 2015/2016
On 6th of October 2015, at Vistula Group of Universities in Warsaw the official Inauguration Ceremony of the Academic Year 2015/2016 took place. After a full summary of the successes of the previous year and the granting of awards to students and graduates, together with prof. Andrew Moravcsik of Princeton University, we undertook the task of searching for an answer to the question, “how to understand the world”?
The Rector, Dr Marek Kulczycki summed up the past year’s (2014/2015) successes and he mentioned VGU events (conferences, internship programs, job fairs), which gave our students and graduates the opportunity to not only gain knowledge, have meetings and discussions with specialists in selected areas, but also direct contact with the biggest Polish and international employers. Vistula Group of Universities climbed to the top in the rankings of universities. The success of the Warsaw School of Tourism and Hospitality Management was ranked first place among private universities and the position of Vistula University itself was selected as the most internationalized university in Poland. In 2015, we were also among the most prestigious academic centers in Poland; the Faculty of Business and International Relations received a category A, confirming the implementation of research at a high international level. We are very happy because of the successes of our students; for example, Maria Morozova, who qualified for the prestigious mentoring program and Anatoliij Bohoriev, who won the title of Young Creative in the Event Industry in 2014.
During the Inauguration, students took part in the Matriculation Ceremony. The representative from the Student Board welcomed the first-year students at our university and encouraged them to take new initiatives and to actively participate in academic life.
The Authorities of Vistula Group of Universities gave diplomas to those graduates who have obtained a doctor degree in the field of economic sciences, specialty certificates in accounting awarded by the Department of Finance and Accounting from Vistula University, as well as congratulatory letters to graduates who have completed the Master of Business Administration program (in cooperation with Oxford Brookes University). Awards were also given to graduates who have achieved the highest grade point average or had notable achievements in art or sport.
The medal for services to tourism granted by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism was received Krzysztof Celuch, Vice-Rector of the Warsaw School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and Wojciech Liszka, Chairman of the Business Council at Warsaw School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
The inaugural lecture “Order and Chaos in the XXI century: how to understand the world?” was presented by prof. Andrew Moravcsik, director of the European Union’s program at Princeton University, one of the most important specialists in the world in the field of international relations.
The ceremony ended with a passionate and energetic performance
