Chief Ethics Officer to the PKP Group about the ethics management

The ethics management in the Polish State Railways Group (The PKP) is the topic of a presentation of Jacek Wojciechowicz, Chief Ethics Officer to the PKP Group. The lecture will be held on 3rd December 2014, Vistula University, 3 p.m.-4.30 p.m., Hall 2. Admission free.

The ethics is an important subject that had to be addressed during the process of restructuring of the Polish State Railways – PKP, since it is also an important element of the new corporate culture.

Under the new management that was appointed more than 2 years ago the Polish State Railways – PKP Group is undergoing a deep restructuring, including a privatization of some of its companies.

The restructuring process included the significant changes to the organizational structure, downsizing of the employment level, changes to the managerial style, including the introduction of MBO and employing the new generation of managers and specialists, financial restructuring, computerization, but, what seems to be the most important, changing the organizational culture, from being a large, bureaucratic institution, internally focused and organized in a paramilitary style into a modern, client oriented institution. The introduction of the ethnics management is an important element of this emerging new organizational culture.

– During my lecture I intend to describe the participatory process of constructing the Code of Ethics at the PKP, the creation of the network of the internal ethics experts and the selection process of the ethics officers at the PKP Group.

I will also describe the preparation of specific policies and procedures, being an extension to the Code of Ethics, the communication and education strategy, adopted to familiarize all the staff members with the Codex and the policies. Finally I will talk about the activities of the Ethics Commission at the PKP Group – stresses Jacek Wojciechowicz, Chief Ethics Officer to the PKP Group.
