Orientation Day
The orientation sessions are conducted for newcomers at the beginning of each semester. Orientation Day is mandatory for all new students. In the 2020 academic year, Orientation Day will be conducted online.
Once you have confirmed your enrolment to the University, you will receive information from the University about registering for the Orientation Day.
The Orientation Day is designed to assist you, our new student, in settling into the university life at the Vistula Group of Universities. You will receive detailed information about security, health care, University departments and offices, USOS, email accounts, student ID, visas and residence permits, as well as student life. Our programme also aims to provide you with the opportunity to meet new people and settle into your life here.

Enrolment process for international students at the Vistula Group of Universities
Once you arrive you must bring the originals of the documents you have uploaded to the Application Form to the Recruitment Office in Room 28. Our staff there will review the documents submitted.
If anything is missing, you will receive a list of missing items to be submitted by a specified deadline. You will be further contacted by email.
If nothing is missing, you will sign the contract between you and the University and receive the official admission decision. You are now officially a student of the Vistula Group of Universities. Congratulations!

Poland is a fascinating country that is at the geographical and cultural crossroads of Eastern and Western Europe. Today, there are 140 state (public) higher education institutions and 261 private (non-public) ones. The system divides them into university-type and non-university institutions. The university-type HEI offers at least one doctoral programme.
Students pursue their studies at universities, technical universities and academies from October to February and from February to June.
The first-cycle studies, as per guidelines of the Bologna Process in European higher education, last 3-4 years (180-240 ECTS) and give the student an equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree. The second-cycle studies, i.e. the Master’s degree programme, last 1.5 – 2 years (90-120 ECTS). Master’s degree holders may enter the third cycle studies, the doctoral programme.
Poland needs qualified employees.
Many Polish students work while studying. Foreign students can work part-time. Our Career Office offers professional assistance in finding part-time employment, paid and unpaid internships and help qualified students in finding appropriate employment after the end of studies.
Poland is an economy governed by free-market rules, additionally circumscribed by EU regulations. Current GDP is USD 27,700 and the current purchasing power parity is $1.052 trillion. The inflation rate in June 2017 was -0.8%.
Poland used to be an ethnically homogeneous place. International students change this: major educational centres of Warsaw, Poznan, Gdansk, Cracow and other are becoming more culturally diverse.
Cultural events in Poland happen daily: concerts, shows, exhibitions, outdoor events and sports events. Sightseeing is excellent. Also, numerous cinemas, restaurants, cafes, recreation and wellness centres are waiting for you.

What is the Mentoring Programme?
The Mentoring Programme is about connecting mentor student-volunteers with incoming international students, in order to provide you – the international students – a helping hand at the beginning of your stay, and give you the opportunity to practice a foreign language and meet students from abroad.
How can a Mentor help me?
Your mentor should be there for you, to answer any questions you might have regarding your studies or your stay in Warsaw. He/she should pick you up at the airport/train station, or at least, explain how the public transportation works. Your mentor should give you some tips on where to go and what to see in your first days. After that, it is all up to you, but the Mentoring Programme is known for making great friendships happen!
How can I get a Mentor?
To get a Mentor, you need to register for our Mentoring Programme at vistula.broaddy.com/register/
We highly recommend writing something about yourself in the registration form, as it increases your chances of getting a local mentor. You can view your profile and make changes, anytime you want. When a local mentor volunteers to help you, you will receive an e-mail with his/her contact information. You should contact one another as soon as possible. Sometimes, the selection process takes a while. The sooner you sign up, the higher the chances are that you will get a mentor before your arrival.
We want to kindly inform you that this is a volunteer-based activity of local mentor students, and there might not be a volunteer for everyone, but we will do our best for you. Moreover, be advised, that this registration is not an official university information system. The official registration will take place upon your arrival.

Accommodation
The Vistula Group universities provide all students with the opportunity to live in a dormitory belonging to our University.
About our dormitory:
- Rooms: The Vistula University dormitory is available from October 1, 2023. We will provide you with a clean, comfortable, safe and aesthetic environment. The rooms are equipped with two single beds, two bedside cabinets, chests of drawers by the beds, two wardrobes, two desks, two office lamps, an electric kettle, two cups.
- Kitchen: Standard kitchen equipment is at your disposal. It consists of: kitchen furniture (upper and lower cabinets), two hobs/induction cooker and hobs (8 burners), built-in sink, two washing machines, two fridges with a freezer, and 6 other elements of equipment – table and chairs and an electric kettle.
- Corridor/lobby: Interiors have a clean, matte finish and security equipment includes: smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, CCTV cameras, carbon monoxide detectors, and information and warning signage.
- Bathroom: Each room has a bathroom for two people, equipped with a towel rail, shower soap dish, shelves, toilet paper holder, waste bin and floor mat.

Nostrifictation
A document certifying the level of education completed issued outside of Poland can be deemed equivalent with one of the documents issued in Poland on the basis of international agreements, legal regulation or by being nostrified. Nostrification is a procedure leading to establishing an equal certificate, diploma or academic title to one obtained abroad. Check below whether you need to nostrify your documents.
You can complete nostrification of your certificate or diploma before taking part in the admissions and enclose it to the documents submitted. But as the deadline for submitting nostrification is set to the end of the first semester of your studies, you may also take care of this obligation after you enroll.
Maturity certificates
Maturity certificates obtained abroad are deemed equal with a Polish maturity certificate on the basis of international agreements Poland has signed with other countries. Details on international agreements in the field of education can be found on the Ministry of Science and Higher Education website (in Polish only).
If a certificate equivalence is not a subject of any international agreements, its status as an equivalent of a Polish maturity certificate can only be confirmed with a nostrification.
Nostrification of maturity certificates applies to those candidates whose maturity certificates have been obtained outside of Poland, in a country with which Poland has not signed an international agreement or when the agreement signed does not include document equivalence as a subject. International Baccalaureate diploma and European Baccalaureate certificate are accepted by Polish universities without a nostrification.
Maturity certificates are nostrified by Polish voivodeship education offices (Kuratoria Oświaty)
appropriate based on the place of residence of the person applying for a nostrification or based on the
location of the institution for which the document is intended.

List of required documents for Nostrification:
- Completed application form (in Polish).
- High school diploma with apostille or legalized high school diploma (or any other document confirming graduation abroad).
- The certificate from the Consulate of the home country in Poland (or from the Ministry of Education), confirming that your high school diploma gives you the right to study at the Universities of your country and / or abroad.
- High school diploma supplement.
- Translation of the above listed documents into Polish (high school diploma, its supplement
- and the certificate issued by the Consulate (if it was issued not in Polish)).
- Copy of your passport.
- Other documents requested by the voivodeship education office.
Higher education diploma
If you have received your higher education diploma on an appropriate level in the European Union, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), European Free Trade Association (EFTA) member state, or the diploma you have obtained gives you the right to pursue studies in the country of its issue on the level equivalent to the level in Poland, then you don’t have to go through with the nostrification process. There is also no need to nostrify documents obtained in the countries with which Poland has signed an agreement about mutual recognition of documents (the list of such agreements can be found on the Ministry of Science and Higher Education website (in Polish only)). Nostrification of a higher education diploma is only necessary if it has been obtained in a country not enlisted above with which Poland has not signed an agreement on mutual document recognition.
