The Vistula Group of Universities has become a partner of the Global Summit on Chemical Safety and Security – CHEMSS2017
The Vistula University, which is a part of the Vistula Group of Universities, has become a partner of the Global Summit on Chemical Safety and Security – CHEMSS2017. The summit will take place in Shanghai from 19th to 20th of September, 2017. The organizers are the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security (ICCSS) and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation (CPCIF).
The event will focus on education in chemical and ecological safety: YOUTH FORUM – Students for Chemical and Environmental Safety and Security. There will be also created an international network of schools and universities: CHEMSS EDUCATION R&D NETWORK. The Vistula University has become a partner of it and will join the network. The chancellor of the Vistula University Dr. Zdzisław Rapacki, will be the chair of one of the sessions and will participate in the negotiations of the final summit document.
– As an education institution from Poland, which has a leading role in promoting chemical safety in the world, we feel obliged to involve in these activities. Chemical safety requires the emergence of an effective training system and the creation of expert staff who will take care of it. We want to become a leader in this field. The first step will be to create postgraduate studies in the field of chemical and ecological security – said Dr. Zdzisław Rapacki, the chancellor of the Vistula University.
Dr. Zdzisław Rapacki for six years has been chairing the Polish delegation during the I Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. Poland delegation negotiated and introduced the Resolutions of Chemical Weapons. He also chaired the Conference of Disarmament in Geneva.
CHEMSS2017 continues the work of the first world safety summit, which was held in Kielce in April 2016 in which participated over 400 representatives of industry, international organizations and academic community – including Vistula University – from 47 countries.
