Drawing and sculpture – exhibition of works by Graphic Design students
Exhibitions of works by Graphic Design students are a permanent element of Vistula University’s life. Another such event is ahead of us. Students’ drawings and sculptures created under the guidance of Marek Kowalski will be displayed in the gallery on the first floor. The opening of the exhibition will take place on April the 21 at 12:00 a.m.
The exhibition includes sculptures, drawings and paintings created as part of the Basics of Sculpture and Drawing and Painting. Students studied the basics of sculpture over one semester. Using plasticine, they explored the issues of shape, space, monumentality, and dynamics. The completed works comprised one in the category of nature, entitled “Leaf”, a design presenting a model of a monument of a selected letter and a figure in motion. One of the stages of this work was getting to know the papier-mâché technique and making a polychrome on a ready-made form of a leaf sculpture.
While studying the art of drawing, students completed five studio drawings during one semester. The topics were the human figure and a creative task. Their attention was to be focused on observing the model. They explored such issues as: composition, correct proportion of the model, chiaroscuro and graphic arrangement.
The exhibition of works by Graphic Design students is an excellent opportunity to see the diversity and wealth of creative explorations of young artists. The presented sculptures and paintings prove their commitment and growing skills, which they develop under the watchful eye of an experienced teacher, Marek Kowalski. The exhibition also offers the viewers an opportunity to learn about the creative process that leads from a drawing design to a final, three-dimensional sculptural form, or to expressive paintings.
