Vistula University at the 29th Science Festival

Five days filled with inspiration, academic debates, and reflection on the modern world – this was the atmosphere of the Science Festival at our University. From September 22 to 26, in Auditorium A2A,
we hosted experts who shared their knowledge in the fields of politics, economy, new technologies, and social life. A large audience followed the events – both on campus and online.
Monday, September 22 – Prof. Wawrzyniec Konarski, PhD,
Rector of Vistula University
The opening lecture was delivered by the Rector of our University. His talk “Cohabitation as a Chronic Conflict. The Case of Poland” attracted many listeners interested in contemporary political history and the mechanisms of governance under the coexistence of two centres of power.
The lecture
certainly encouraged reflection on the durability and consequences of conflicts at the highest levels of the state.

Tuesday, September 23 – Andrzej Szumowski – Director of the Foreign Cooperation Office, National Chamber of Commerce
On the second day, we could learn about the backstage of shaping political and economic decisions. During his lecture, “Lobbying – the Art of Influence”, Andrzej Szumowski discussed the practical aspects of lobbying, its ethical boundaries, and its impact on the functioning of state and business.

The third day focused on digital threats. In his lecture, “The Great Troll Attack: War on the Internet”, Piotr Kościński, PhD, demonstrated how public opinion can be manipulated online and highlighted the dangers of disinformation and fake news as tools of influence.
