Vistula students participated in an international BIP programme in Croatia

Students of the Vistula School of Hospitality took part in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme focused on “Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development”. The programme was hosted by the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Rijeka, located in picturesque Opatija, Croatia.
The programme combined online learning with intensive on-site activities on the Adriatic coast. On 1–2 June, students participated in the virtual component, during which they explored topics such as consumer behaviour in tourism and destination management. Then, from 8 to 12 June, participants met in Croatia for expert lectures, project work using the “Go-along research” method, and a study visit to the island of Krk.
The programme brought together students and lecturers from several European countries. Among the international lecturers were representatives of our university – Dr Joanna Kalecińska and Dr Barbara Pędraszewska, who conducted workshops titled “Teamwork and interpersonal relations as an important element in professional activity”.
Thanks to cooperation with partner institutions from Cyprus, Bulgaria and Croatia, students developed skills essential for future tourism managers. They learned how to define the principles of sustainable tourism in relation to local communities, explored financial and planning mechanisms of cities and regions in the context of tourism, and strengthened their problem-solving and critical thinking skills in international teams.
Participation in the BIP programme gave students an opportunity to gain practical knowledge, international experience and new perspectives on tourism development based on social and environmental responsibility.
