Vernissage of the members of PHOTO CLUB Vistula
On Friday, November 6, 2015, the club members of PHOTO-VISTULA, a club operating at Vistula University, organized an opening of an exhibition of their collective works in a Public Library in Szczytno.
The artists presented 25 black-and-white portraits, made jointly by seven authors, including the Club supervisor, R. Lipiński, who introduced the authors of the photographs, reported on the achievements of the Club and presented the Vistula University with its international and intercultural character. For the majority of the people who took part in the opening, it was the first encounter with Vistula, a lot of questions were asked and one could feel a lively interest on the part of the participants who declared their willingness to cooperate with the school in the future.
The exhibition would not have taken place without the help of the Mazurian friends of PHOTO-Vistula. Special thanks to http://mbp.miastoszczytno.pl/ for organizing the exhibition, the Centre www.mazury-dom.eu for providing accommodation and http://www.fundacja-kreolia.mazury.pl/ for the musical setting.
All images are stylistically uniform. They are the outcome of a number of field practice, organized mainly in Mazuria. The most photographs depict students, “classmates”, but shown from a different perspective, a bit mysterious, a bit demonic… but always in a place and time, where light plays a major role. The idea behind the exhibition was to create one’s own style and depart from the worn- out patterns. Have they succeeded…? You can check on the spot, in the Public Library in Szczytno, Polska 8 str. The exhibition will be open until November 27, 2015.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the artists spent the whole Saturday and Sunday photographing the charming Masurian landscapes, this time in the autumn light. There is a chance, we will see more of their great photographs.
