The “Vistula Compasses” Competition 2025. The Grand Finale approaches

The “Vistula Compasses” Competition has entered its decisive phase. The jury has selected the finalists, and the names of the winners will be announced on March 31, 2025, during the gala accompanying Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2025. This event will bring together representatives from the academic and business communities, government and local institutions, industry professionals, and students.
The competition, organized by the Vistula School of Hospitality, attracts attention from the tourism, hospitality, and event management sectors every year. This year’s sixth edition confirms that our University’s graduates are achieving significant professional success, serving as an inspiration for their younger peers.
Finalists in each category
The competition jury, composed of representatives from the Business Council of VSH and industry experts, has chosen finalists in three main categories:
“Vistula Compasses” – Rising Star
This category recognises young, dynamically developing professionals. The finalists are:
- Weronika Matysek, Key Account Specialist at Regent Warsaw Hotel;
- Remigiusz Maziarek, Sales Manager at DMC Rovaniemi;
- Daria Shevelova, Junior Project Manager in the Meetings & Conferences Department at Weco-Travel.
“Vistula Compasses” – Open
This open category celebrates achievements in various areas related to hospitality. The finalists are:
- Żaneta Grabarz, Safety, Security, Health, Environmental Protection Officer, and Site Security Officer at Roche Polska Sp. z o. o.;
- Weronika Grodecka, Client Solution Architect at NielsenIQ;
- Mateusz Herdzina, Senior Purser / Supervisor / Instructor at Polish Airlines LOT S.A.;
- Dominika Polus-Dąbrowska, Certified Mental Trainer, Master of Ceremonies, and Senior Marketing & Event Manager for Dell Technologies.
“Vistula Compasses” – Hospitality
This category is dedicated to the hotel industry. The finalists are:
- Michał Kozak, President of the Management Board at Hotel Arłamów S.A.;
- Agnieszka Sawicka, Cluster Assistant Financial Controller at Radisson Blu Sobieski Warsaw and Radisson Collection Warsaw;
- Justyna Wolańska, PR, Marketing, and Social Media Manager at Orbis S.A. Hotel Sofitel Warsaw Victoria.
The finale gala is included in the calendar of the Polish Presidency of the EU
The winners of the competition will be announced during the prestigious “Vistula Compasses” Gala, which will take place on March 31, 2025, at the Golden Tulip Warsaw Centre Hotel. The event will be part of the Polish celebrations of the Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2025 highlighting the importance of the competition not only for our University but also for the entire tourism and hospitality industry.
The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The gala will also be included in the calendar of the Polish Presidency of the European Union. It is additionally under the patronage of Adam Szłapka, Minister for European Union Affairs.
Significance of the “Vistula Compasses” Competition
The “Vistula Compasses”is a unique distinction awarded by the Vistula School of Hospitality to its graduates for significant professional achievements in areas related to hospitality. The competition covers sectors such as tourism, HORECA, the meetings industry, and sports management. The initiative is spearheaded by the Business Council of VSH which includes entrepreneurs and industry journalists.
The competition is not only an opportunity to honour our outstanding alumni, but also a source of inspiration for current students of the VSH and young professionals. It demonstrates that passion, commitment, and continuous skill development are the key to success in the dynamically evolving sectors of tourism, hospitality, and event management.
