New Procedure for Applying for a Temporary Residence Permit (TRC)

From 27 April 2026, applications for a temporary residence permit must be submitted only through the Case Management Module (MOS) portal:

Please follow the steps below carefully.
Step 1: Obtain a PESEL Number
Before starting your application, obtain a PESEL number:

Step 2: Create a Trusted Profile
Create your Trusted Profile here:
https://pz.gov.pl/pz/registerMainPage
A Trusted Profile is a secure method of electronic identification. It allows you to confirm your identity online and sign official documents electronically. Signing documents with a Trusted Profile is free of charge.
A Trusted Profile is also required to create an e-Delivery mailbox.
Step 3: Register on the MOS Portal
Create an account on the MOS portal:

Step 4: Complete the TRC Application
Log in to the MOS portal through login.gov.pl and complete the application for a temporary residence permit.
Step 5: Provide a valid email address
Enter a valid email address. You will receive a code needed to assign your case in the inPOL system:
https://inpol.mazowieckie.pl/login
Step 6: Upload Required Attachments
Prepare and upload scans or digital versions of the required documents:
- A colour photo, taken within the last 6 months, size 684 × 883 px, maximum 2.5 MB
- Scan of all passport pages
- Proof of stamp duty payment – PLN 340

- Proof of health insurance
- Documents confirming accommodation costs, such as a rental agreement or dormitory certificate
- Documents confirming sufficient financial means, covering:
- living costs – minimum PLN 1,010 per month for the entire stay, usually around 15 months
- accommodation costs for the entire stay
- tuition fees for the current academic year and the next semester
- return travel costs:
- PLN 300 for neighbouring countries
- PLN 500 for EU countries
- PLN 2,500 for non-EU countries
- Student status and payment confirmation letter from the university
- Transcript of records, required after completing the first semester
- Proof of tuition fee payment
Step 7: Provide the University email address
To complete and approve Annex No. 5, provide the university email address:
mos.student@vistula.edu.pl
Step 8: Sign the Application
Sign the application using your Trusted Profile or a qualified electronic signature.
Step 9: Download the UPO Confirmation
Download the UPO, which is the official confirmation of submission.
Please remember: no UPO means the application has not been submitted.
Step 10: Create an inPOL Account Create an account in the inPOL system if you do not already have one.
Good to Know
Please read the following information carefully before submitting your application:
- Never share your Trusted Profile login details with anyone.
- Documents are submitted electronically.
- Saving the application and sending it to the university does not mean that the application has been submitted to the Office.
- Additional or missing documents must be sent via e-Delivery.
- You will receive a confirmation of submission, which replaces the passport stamp.
- You may be called to the Office to provide fingerprints, signature or additional documents.
- If required documents are missing, your application will not be processed.
- The permit is issued for the study period plus 3 months, but for no longer than 3 years.
- Do not apply at the last minute.
- Keep your contact details up to date.
- Create an e-Delivery account.
- Send documents together with a cover letter.
- Obtaining required signatures, for example from the university, may take time.
- You will receive your case number by email.
- If you are staying legally in Poland, you will receive confirmation of legal residence.
- Track your case in the inPOL system and respond to any requests from the Office.
After a positive decision, you will receive information about collecting your residence card.
Appeal Procedure
If you receive a negative decision, you may submit an appeal to the Head of the Office for Foreigners within 14 days. The appeal must be submitted through the Mazovian Voivode.
Financial Requirements
You must prove that you have sufficient financial means for your stay in Poland.
Required minimum amount:
- PLN 1,010 per month – for a single person
- PLN 823 per month per person – if staying with family members
Return travel cost requirement:
- PLN 300 – for neighbouring countries
- PLN 500 – for other EU countries
- PLN 2,500 – for non-EU countries
Accepted documents confirming financial means include:
- traveller’s cheque
- credit card limit certificate
- bank certificate
- scholarship confirmation
- employment certificate
Financial documents must be issued no earlier than 1 month before submitting the application.
