Basketball at Vistula University – perfect conditions, professionalism, and great emotions
On November the 25th, 2020, a men’s basketball match took place in Vistula’s sports hall, as part of the Warsaw Academic Championships – I League. Vistula’s team played against the Warsaw School of Economics. After a fierce fight, the guests won by two points, 63-61. The team of Vistula trained by coach, Dariusz Sword, is the most internationalised in the league. Students from Egypt, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mozambique, Kyrgyzstan, Zimbabwe, and Tajikistan play in it.
There was a very pleasant celebration before the match started. The director of the P.E. and Sports Study, Jerzy Szyszko, handed over the Rector’s awards for high sports level and worthy representation of the university. Volodymyr Paliichuk and Osama Ahmed were honoured. They both form the core of the team, and they have represented our university throughout their five-year study period. “I became passionate about basketball in Ukraine,” says Volodymyr Paliichuk, the team captain. – At Vistula, I was able to develop this passion, in perfect conditions created by the university, in a great atmosphere, and at a high professional level – he adds. Osama Ahmed emphasises the excellent atmosphere in the team, stating proudly that “The professionalism of the coach and the emotions of the game will always live in my memory. I will take them to Egypt”.
We keep our fingers crossed for our team, we wish it much health and success.
