Religion is one of the factors shaping the history of mankind and most strongly affecting ongoing changes. It determines the perception of the world, the behaviour of individuals, and relationships with others. It also creates the perception of a woman and her role in society. \u2018Woman in world religions\u2019 is the subject of a scientific seminar by the Institute of Tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The history of mankind oscillates from matriarchy to patriarchy. Societies give to women, specific meanings and places, that change, depending on the culture and religion. It is a really fascinating and extensive matter. It will be a key theme of the scientific seminar titled: \u2019Woman in world religions\u2019. Its organisers are: the Institute of Tourism of the Vistula School of Hospitality, the Museum of Masovian Jews in P\u0142ock, and the Student Club \u201cExpert\u201d of the P\u0142ock Pawe\u0142 W\u0142odkowic University. The meeting will take place on March the 31st, 2020, at 6:00 pm, at the Museum of Masovian Jews in P\u0142ock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lecture presenting various religions, will begin the seminar. It will explain their views on woman\u2019s significance and role, as someone who is, sometimes, the symbol and main heroine of religious ceremonies, but at other times, her presence in rituals is rejected. Specific roles and tasks have been given to women, and these will be explored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor of Theological Sciences, Eugeniusz Sakowicz, will give the lecture. He is head of the Department of Religiology and Ecumenism at the Institute of Dialogue of Culture and Religion at the Theological Faculty of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszy\u0144ski University, and a member of the Committee on Theological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Professor Sakowicz specialises in the theology of religion, fundamental theology, religious studies, missiology, and anthropology. He is the author of over 400 scientific and popular publications, including several books, as well as numerous journalistic texts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ma\u0142gorzata Kordowicz will also attend the meeting. She is associated with the Jewish Community in Warsaw, a graduate of the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York, who was the first Polish woman to become a rabbi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She graduated from the Faculty of Hebrew Studies at the University of Warsaw; and subsequently, taught Hebrew at the University of Warsaw, in the capital\u2019s Jacek Kuro\u0144 Multicultural High School of Humanities, and at the Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University in Lublin. She published two books: a Polish-Hebrew prayer book for children \u2013 the first since World War II, and a reprint of the primer for Hebrew learning from the beginning of the 20th century, enriched by the modern part. For fifteen years, she was a member of the editorial teams of several Jewish periodicals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ireneusz Mroczkowski, a Professor of Theological Sciences, a clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church, a prelate, and a specialist in Moral Theology and Ethics, will also participate in the seminar. In the years 1997\u20132002, he was the head of the Department of Moral Theology at the Catholic University of Lublin. From 2002, he was a Professor at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszy\u0144ski University in Warsaw, at the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of Family Studies. In 2007, he was awarded the Grand Order of St. Zygmunt, the highest decoration of the P\u0142ock diocese, and in 2017 \u2013 the title of Super Citizen of the City of Plock for overall activity, and especially for conducting and initiating discussions, in the Dialogue Section at the P\u0142ock Scientific Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
